Land Acknowledgement
& ESG Plan
The following represents ETC Hospitality’s environmental, social and governance plan. This plan will evolve and grow over time, and through a commitment to these principles, our actions will foster positive relationships in the community and generate collectively beneficial outcomes for all stakeholders.
Land Acknowledgement
NOTE: This land acknowledgement will continue to evolve with input from Indigenous collaborators
We acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Hinono’ei (Arapaho), Tsistsistas (Cheyenne), and Núuchiu (Ute) peoples. We also acknowledge the 48 contemporary tribal nations that are historically tied to the lands that make up the state of Colorado.
We recognize that these Indigenous nations have stewarded this land for generations, and we honor their enduring connection to this place.
We grieve the painful history of genocide, displacement and erasure that these communities have faced and continue to face.
We honor the past and present connection between natural medicine and Indigenous peoples and strive to respect it in all we do.
As we reflect on the past, we commit to working towards a future of respect and collaboration for Indigenous peoples, and we humbly seek opportunities to support the ongoing contributions of Indigenous communities in Golden and beyond.
Environmental
ETC Hospitality will utilize electric appliances at our healing center location
We understand the importance of energy efficiency and want to contribute to environmental efforts as best we can, even on a small scale. The building in which we will operate is equipped with up-to-date appliances, which will in turn aid our efforts to reduce energy usage and promote efficiency from day one.
ETC Hospitality will recycle and reduce environmental waste where possible
We will recycle at the healing center and investigate additional options to reduce environmental waste upon operating. We will electronically maintain all required business records leading up to and throughout operations to reduce paper waste. We will choose reusable options over single use consumables wherever possible. We will continually be evaluating new ways to better reduce waste and improve our environmental footprint.
ETC Hospitality will compost food waste
We will compost food waste when we begin operating as a healing center. Composting is an easy way for us to promote sustainability and foster a better connection with the environment. Our goal is to compost at least 20 pounds of food waste within our first year of operating.
Social
ETC Hospitality will provide discounted services to organizations working on addiction recovery
We understand the importance of providing affordable support to at-risk populations. The potential for natural medicine to aid addiction recovery is immense and we want to contribute to efforts as best we can. The financial barrier can be the largest burden for treatment, and we strive to alleviate some of the strain as well as advance the research and understanding of how natural medicine can support recovery. Our goal is to provide discounted services within our first year of operating, and provide this service at least once per month on average.
ETC Hospitality will support harm reduction by providing education and information
We will provide information on our website as well as at the physical healing center that helps to reduce potential harms associated with natural medicine. Through harm reduction, we do not ignore the potential harms associated with natural medicine but acknowledge them and work to reduce their impacts. Providing safe consumption information, educational materials, and contact information for additional support and emergency services will help provide clarity around natural medicine and promote responsible consumption. We will have harm reduction information available on our website as well as provided on site before the healing center receives its first Participant.
ETC Hospitality will host workshops and other beneficial community events at the premises when it is not being used as a healing center
We strive to utilize the space as a host for positive gatherings. Our role in the community will extend beyond only providing natural medicine services – we are an organization that supports and stimulates beneficial growth for the greater community. Events that may be hosted include functional mushroom cultivation workshops, yoga, meditation, podcast recordings and networking events. We recognize the privilege of having real estate and want to allow others to use it for additional positive impacts. It is also our intention to be a space that provides community and support services for facilitators, including serving as a place where they can gather and connect in whatever way is most effective. If we can aid those efforts by providing a location, then we want to be helpful. We hope to host at least three of these community events within our first year of operating as well as at least one facilitator-focused gathering.
Governance
ETC Hospitality’s owner will oversee implementing the ESG plan
Our owner, Erik Vaughan, is tasked with ensuring the principles of our ESG plan are reflected throughout operations and implemented accordingly.
